Custom Plano-Concave Lenses

Plano-Concave Lenses have edges that are thicker than the center and flat on one side. Plano-concave lenses are used to expand a light beam or increase the focal length in an optical system. They are commonly used for beam expansion of high peak power pulsed lasers. The beam incident on the concave surface will be focused to a point outside the instrument.
Unwanted air heating and ionization at the focal point may accompany mode disruption or material damage. To avoid this problem, the input lens should be inverted so that the concave surface is not facing the parallel beam.

The lens forms are plano-convex, plano-concave, double-convex, double-concave, plano-convex cylinder and plano-concave cylinder. Focal lengths vary from -5000 to +10000 mm.
