Orbea has jumped in to the endurance road bike category with the Avant. They took their time to get things right and it shows.

While it shares a design heritage with the Orca line, it goes it’s own direction. The same aero thinking that went into the Orca’s head tube, fork, and down tube can be found here. It shares the tapered 1 1/8” to 1 ½” steerer and the wide BB86 bottom bracket shell. And the OMP, Orbea Monocoque Performance, carbon layup is also found in the Orca line. But the top tube, seat tube, and seat stays were designed for vertical compliance, even going so far as to remove the brake from the seat stays and placing it under the bottom bracket. In terms of fit, the Avant is about 15mm taller at the head tube and 10mm shorter at the top tube compared to Orca’s of similar sizes. Great for folks who prefer shorter distances to handlebars and prefer a higher, more heads-up handlebar position. And 28mm wide tires can easily fit.
